Summary of Mind

In Britain in any one year, 1 in 4 of us will experience a mental health problem and, tragically, over 5000 people will take their own lives.

Mind is the leading mental health charity in England and Wales. We believe no one should have to face a mental health problem alone. When you’re living with a mental health problem it can be a lonely, scary time. Yet, too often, people struggle to get the help they need.

We're here for you. We’re on your doorstep, on the end of a phone or online. Whether you're stressed, depressed or in a crisis, we'll listen, give support and advice, and fight your corner.

Last year, our 169 local services helped over 280,000 people rebuild their lives and our helplines provided a listening ear to over 37,000 callers. But that's not enough to make a long term difference.

We campaign to improve services, promote understanding and raise awareness of mental health in our local communities, in the media and in Parliament. By bringing mental health into the open, we're changing attitudes and breaking down stigma and discrimination.

Built in the grounds of NHS hospitals, Maggie's Centres are calming and helpful places that offer the emotional, practical and social support that people with cancer need.

Despite all the breakthroughs in knowledge and treatment over the past two decades, cancer is affecting more and more people in the UK. There are 300,000 new diagnoses every year and each diagnosis means another individual facing the possibility of prolonged treatment, complicated side effects and uncertainty about their outcome.

Whether you're someone with cancer or a friend or relative of someone with cancer, whether you've been recently diagnosed or are receiving treatment or are in remission, whether you want to talk to people or sit by yourself and have a cup of tea, our door is open.
